If your car is involved in an accident, there is a good chance that it will have a new module of some sort fitted. This might be Headlight, Seatbelts, Airbags, Camera, Radar to name but a few.

These modules are generally security protected and will not work properly (if at all) until they are coded to the car. Historically this was a procedure that only Main dealers could perform, and generally you would have to wait a lengthy time for an appointment.
